Scalable solutions for direct-use systems and high-output geothermal wells
Welltec® provides tailored solutions for geothermal well completions operating across a wide thermal range, from low-temperature direct-use systems to high-temperature resources.
When demands are extreme, Welltec® offers the only solutions on the market capable of withstanding temperatures above 330°C and delivering 1,000,000 lbs of anchoring capacity – combining the Welltec® Magma Packer (WMP) and the Welltec® Expandable Anchor (WEA).
This combination ensures long-term annular integrity in the most demanding environments, and is engineered for exceptional load-bearing capacity and thermal resilience.
Furthermore, our broad portfolio of completion solutions – including the Welltec® Annular Barrier (WAB®), and the Welltec® Light Packer (WLP) – has applications in zonal isolation, flow control, cement assurance, and reservoir compartmentalization, across the operating temperature range of geothermal wells.
Welltec® Flow Valves (WFV™) complete a flow control system for large bores with no internal restrictions, providing effective injection/production control in geothermal wells.
Through a range of proven metal expandable packer solutions, Welltec delivers fullbore completions capable of withstanding acidic corrosion and extreme pressure/temperature swings/cycling associated with the geothermal environment.
Whether mitigating formation risk, extending well life, or revitalizing damaged assets, Welltec® enables smarter geothermal completion designs that reduce complexity, boost integrity, and support long-term, lower-emission energy production.
Our broad portfolio of intervention solutions supports efficient scale removal and cleanout in mid- to low-temperature wells (up to 150°C), as well as quenched high-temperature wells – all with minimal environmental impact through e-line deployment. With over 30 years of experience in scale removal from oil and gas wells, Welltec® brings proven expertise to geothermal operations, restoring flow and optimizing production.
Silica and calcite buildup is a common challenge in geothermal wells, driven by reservoir variability and thermodynamic shifts over time. E-line conveyed technologies like the Well Miller® offer a rigless, low-footprint alternative using a truck-mounted winch and crane – making them ideal for interventions in areas where space is at a premium.
