For geothermal specific applications

Collaboration with clients and industry experts

At Welltec®, we believe that collaboration with clients and leading industry experts is essential in order to understand and design fit-for-purpose technology catering for specific challenges.

Continual improvement is still the game plan

We have a group of experienced engineers that design, experiment and test equipment in-house in Denmark, with the knowledge sharing and peer review with operator and university experts.

We follow the development of a novel system or technology through to the stage of deployment, implementing lessons learned to ensure continuous improvement.

Continual improvement is still the game plan.

In-house development & engineering

All Welltec products and tools are designed, engineered and crafted in-house. This enables us to be highly flexible when responding to demands from the market or a specific request from a customer, by keeping the entire process internal.

This structure enables us to maintain close control over sustainability with regards to design and the way in which we operate at our two dedicated product centers. We utilize cutting edge robotics and automation to achieve the best possible efficiency and reduced lead times.

  • Top experts in research, D&E, manufacturing and operations
  • Quality control to microscopic tolerances, 75% swarf time
  • Innovative in-house manufacturing and automation, 24/7/365
  • Strong local presence worldwide with highly skilled teams

U.S. DOE awards research funding

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced funding for an ongoing project involving the Welltec® Annular Barrier (WAB)® - a new version of the all-metal packer solution designed specifically for geothermal applications.

Supported through the Geothermal Technologies Office (GTO), this award is an important piece of GTO’s research and development. Through innovative technologies that address key exploration and deployment barriers, we can reduce costs and risks associated with geothermal well construction.

ZoDrEx - zonal isolation study

Welltec has partnered with Geothermica and the Danish Energy Agency to work on the ZoDrEx geothermal project. ZoDrEx aims to demonstrate that drilling, completion and production technologies can increase the technical and economic success of geothermal projects.

Percussion drilling can perform at high deviation in crystalline rock, and lead to substantial cost reduction

Zonal isolation is key to Enhanced Geothermal System (EGS) stimulation and efficient technology selection is possible. ZoDrEx will contribute to developing robust zonal isolation products

Through automation, better corrosion protection, and monitoring, EGS plant's operation can be optimized while ensuring the safety of the workers and environment
