Welltec® Streamview Pro enables informed workover planning

Synopsis

An operator in Gabon planned a workover on a legacy well that had lost injectivity, with the objective of accessing the subsea Christmas tree, cutting the tubing, and retrieving the upper section. 

While some degree of corrosion was anticipated, the Welltec® Streamview Pro camera was deployed to provide a clear understanding of downhole conditions. The inspection revealed extensive corrosion and erosion at several critical locations, significantly influencing the scope and planning of the intervention. 

Armed with definitive visual evidence as to the condition of the well, the operator was able to evaluate multiple paths forward, including plug and abandonment (P&A) or continuation of the planned workover incorporating a Christmas tree replacement.
