Scope emissions
Welltec Denmark: Steady CO2 Reductions Since 2018
Our operations in Welltec Denmark have been on a steady path of reducing CO2 emissions, achieving a 35.8% reduction by the end of 2023 compared to our 2018 baseline. This reduction has been driven by several initiatives:
- Replacing natural gas heating with a heat pump system, resulting in a 70% reduction in Scope 1 emissions.
- Installing solar panels to cover approximately 15% of the annual electricity consumption at our Allerød facility.
- Purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) since 2021 to offset a portion of our energy use with renewable sources, supporting the development of wind and solar energy projects in Denmark.
Welltec is committed to further reducing its CO2 emissions. By 2035, we aim to achieve a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions (location-based method) compared to 2018 levels in Welltec Denmark. Key initiatives include:
By the end of 2025, we aim to estimate Scope 1 and 2 emissions across all our global operations. This will allow us to extend our CO2 reduction efforts and continue implementing sustainable practices throughout the entire Welltec organization.
