The department

You will join the Africa leadership team and the Global Operations function to set direction for the Africa operations organization consisting of approximately 60 employees including Service Delivery Managers, field engineers, maintenance and logistics staff.

The position 

The role holds great potential for the right candidate for displaying leadership skills and ability to engage and inspire. You will be responsible for Operations across the Africa regions, people management, and high-level stakeholder management. For this aspect in particular close cooperation with existing management in Africa and HQ will be key to your success.

You will be reporting directly to the AVP Africa and you will have a functional reporting line to the EVP Global Operations and QHSE. 

The ideal candidate excels equally in both technical and leadership challenges.  

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading a team of Service Delivery Managers who oversee the Field Operations and team
• Leadership of all Operations functions (Field staff, Maintenance, Supply chain, Logistics)
• Linking operational and commercial activities in the area and ensuring that resources are available to cover demand 
• Acting as a focal point during sales processes in cooperation with sales employees and the technical team
• Ensuring that field staff is sufficiently trained to cover upcoming activities  
• Developing, monitoring and implementing procedures to ensure safe and efficient execution of operations 
• Oversee operational activities within the area and optimize the utilization of resources
• Working with clients to ensure successful operations that meet safety and service quality goals
• Contribute to the continuous development of the Global Operations Function through active engagement with sub-functional Management

The candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who gets excited by technology, people and open-ended challenges. In order to perform well in this role, you should also have the following qualifications or similar competencies:

• Experience working with technical sales
• Experience in a service delivery management position or related operations management position
• Experience leading a team with focus on implementing improvements and developing people and team(s)
• Experience working as a field engineer (preferable)
• Strong presence & people skills
