The highest capacity factor

Geothermal energy offers the highest capacity factor in the renewable market and requires a consistently high temperature fluid flow to ensure a reliable output.

Welltec® offers multiple solutions using an all metal expandable packer to assist operators in various stages of drilling and completion. Welltec Annular Barrier (WAB®) technology can be incorporated into helping achieve challenging high temperature cement jobs, and provide isolation for Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) and stimulations, as well as facilitating re-lining operations.

Well construction and remediation

Geothermal well construction requires high temperature packers combined with cement to enhance integrity and protect the life span of the wellbore.

These solutions also provide zonal isolation for stimulation and facilitate the remediation of wells that are shut-in due to casing collapse, burst or buckling, a common issue in this sector.

Current designs of the WAB are qualified for up to 300°C, which can be used for injection and production wells with the possibility of modifications to address specific requirements.

WAB - qualified to 300°C

Combined, they offer the unique opportunity of establishing EGS and ensuring stimulation and flow control in open hole.
