Rigless P&A of completions with control lines
Axter is a rigless, electro-mechanical solution designed to expedite the plug and abandonment (P&A) of completions with control lines on the outside of the production tubing, making it an ideal choice for well plugging operations.
By retrieving the control line via Axter’s surgical technique, the need to remove production tubing is eliminated, leaving the completion ready for cementing as the primary well plug and final decommissioning.
Axter optimizes the control line retrieval process into three actions, all completed on a single run.
1) Scan – Axter Real-Time Scanner carries out real-time acoustic scanning of the tubular and annulus to identify the position and status of the control line/micro tubes.
2) Mill – Axter Lateral Miller creates a 200 mm (7.9”) window/opening in the production tubing to provide access to the control line.
3) Cut and retrieve – Utilizing the Axter Line Cutter, the control line is completely cut at the lowermost point of the P&A, while a secondary point above is used to secure the control line, cut and retrieve to the surface to compete the sequence.
The Axter P&A sequence is fully automated, with built-in safety checkpoints where the operator simply confirms continuation.
Axter provides everything you need for plug and abandonment in one, fully configurable toolstring, ensuring maximum efficiency in a single run intervention.
The operation is controlled via custom software; the scanning and assessment stage can be completed in as little as 25 minutes.
While plug and and abandonment is facilitated by combining multiple Axter technologies, these can can also be run in alternative configurations, or as standalone solutions to meet the requirements of each operation.
