Welltec® Expandable Anchor (WEA) for Tieback Liner
The Welltec® Expandable Anchor (WEA) for Tieback Liner, qualified for life-of-well, delivers maximum running clearance and minimizes the need for intervention runs, fluid impact during cementing, or delays due to swell time. It also reduces well construction complexity by decreasing subcomponents and ensuring high reliability and efficiency.
Featured case
Offshore Trinidad & Tobago, Welltec reinstated production in a shut-in well with corroded 6-5/8” casing by deploying the first-ever WEA for Tieback Liner combined with a WLP. Qualified to ISO 14310 V3 and API 19LH standards, the system provided life-of-well isolation and anchoring, efficiently restoring well integrity and enabling future interventions with a re-entry guide.
WEA is a single-piece, machined sleeve, securely welded to a base pipe, ensuring a high level of durability and stability. The WEA's main component is a machined slip that fits over an expansion sleeve, integral to the anchoring system.
The expansion sleeve expands within the casing or liner and the anchor rings grip the inner diameter (ID) of the liner or casing. This grip strengthens as more load is applied. Additional sleeve assemblies can be added to further boost the anchoring capacity.
WEA is fully compatible with metal expandable packers, such as and Welltec® Annular Barrier (WAB®), and Welltec® Isolation Valve (WIV).
