In March 2022, the completions segment of Welltec® (WCS) made its 1,000th product installation.
The final push towards reaching the noteworthy achievement accelerated throughout 2021, with more and more clients discovering the efficiencies and benefits that can be gained by utilizing metal expandable technology.
“The rapid growth and development of WCS has undoubtedly been facilitated by the approach we’ve taken towards meeting client’s needs across the globe, namely by establishing manufacturing and assembly capability in multiple locations – all of which are certified to the highest industry standards,” said Wai Hoe Chum, Operations Director for Well Completions.
“I’d like to congratulate the entire WCS team on this achievement. I think we have managed to defy the odds somewhat considering the global downturn of the last two years,” added Chum.
Product range and applications
The 1,000 installations are made up of a broad range of completion technologies, including metal expandable packers such as Welltec Annular Barrier (WAB®), Welltec Light Packer (WLP), Welltec Annular Isolation (WAI™), and Welltec Flow Valve (WFV™) solutions – each of these is now deployed in active regions across the globe.
While the 8 ½” (812) WAB is the most popular completion product, installations have included versions across the entire range from 3 ¼” (314) through to 16” (16).
“We will continue to tirelessly develop our completions portfolio whilst coordinating with our client’s increasingly complex designs and meet requirements, be it zonal isolation, cement assurance, or multistage solutions, elimination of sustained casing pressure,” concluded Chum.
