Optimizing energy

Optimizing energy for the future

We believe in a fair and inclusive energy transition. That is why we are constantly working together with our clients to help optimize the way they produce energy today, and applying our expertise in new technologies to prepare for how we can produce energy tomorrow.

We are dedicated to helping eliminate methane emissions, replacing cement where possible, reducing the environmental footprint of field operations, and engineering new energy systems for the future.

Eliminating methane emissions, while improving well integrity

With our unique metal expandable packer technologies, such as the Welltec Annular Barrier (WAB), we help eliminate methane emissions by preventing sustained casing pressure (SCP).

We have implemented this unique technology in more than 1,000 wells globally and proven its success across wells, regardless of the challenges posed by different geographies and environments.

Metal expandable packers not only help to eliminate methane emissions and improve well integrity, but variations of this technology can also enable cementless completions.

They optimize how operators can construct new wells in a way that leaves a lower footprint and maximizes the output from the well.

Minimizing carbon footprint, while optimizing productivity

Since its introduction, the e-line based Well Tractor has enabled conveyance, as well as down hole intervention services, that optimize production with a lower environmental footprint.

Due to their small size, lightweight, and flexibility in terms of equipment mobilized, the Well Tractor and associated services offer a unique way for operators to repair and optimize their existing well stock.

Our innovative intervention technologies also enable access to complex deviated and horizontal well paths.  This allows operators to optimize the construction of new wells with multiple wells from a single top-side location that is always accessible. This optimization delivers huge efficiency gains whilst reducing environmental impact.

Engineering new energy systems for the future

We apply our deep industry knowledge to new energy solutions such as geothermal and carbon capture & storage. Our completion technologies are uniquely positioned to help improve well integrity in geothermal energy production as well as carbon capture & storage systems.

Though still in the initial phases, we also invest and collaborate with clients and researchers to understand how our technology may help realize more sustainable energy alternatives, so that we are prepared for a future where energy production leaves a minimal total footprint.

Climate actions for Welltec production and operations

As a leading energy technology specialist, we focus our resources on engineering solutions that help our clients produce the energy the world needs in the most efficient way possible. But we also take responsibility for our own footprint in the production of all of our products & services, and have fully transitioned to sustainable energy sources at our headquarter facilities.

Specifically, we reduced our Scope 1 CO2 emissions by 184 tons (equal to 70%) from 2022 to 2023 and since 2021, both of our headquarter offices have compensated power consumption by purchasing environmentally friendly electricity, saving 1,981 tons of CO2.

Furthermore, solar panels at our Allerød HQ provided for 15% of the location’s power consumption during 2023, while a highly efficient heat pump system delivered a 70% drop in natural gas consumption compared to 2022.

Finally, we reached an important milestone in 2023 – both at our HQ and our production facilities in Allerød and Esbjerg - where we sent 100% of scrap metals, machine oils and other waste materials associated with manufacturing for recycling.

All of these initiatives not only support the mission of helping our clients reduce their emissions but also prove that we are committed to reducing our own emissions.

In addition to the environmental benefits, these initiatives will contribute to cost savings and operational efficiency, further enhancing our competitive advantage and long-term viability.
